And make a nice bowl of popcorn to go with it!
Well, I’m exhausted. I’ve already fallen into the trap of doing too much and feeling like I’ve accomplished too little.
My holiday decorations aren’t out; there are still pumpkins on my doorstep. And yet, I’ve been going almost non-stop; sucked, once again, into the urgent instead of the important.
No wonder I find it hard to relax! If you’re like me, the concept of sitting on the sofa and watching a movie is a foreign one. Movies play in the background while I’m vacuuming or while I’m creating graphics or answering email or any of a thousand other tasks that don’t quite take my full attention. As a result, I’m the woman who asks, “Now, who is that guy?” about the star of the movie, for chrissakes, have you not even been paying attention? I am rarely, if ever, in the present moment.
The popcorn is a different piece of baggage. Popcorn is a snack. I don’t eat snacks anymore, even popcorn. At my age now, I have to watch everything I eat just to stay at a weight I’m not happy with. So sitting on the couch, doing nothing but watching a movie I enjoy while eating popcorn seems like the ultimate decadent act.
Tonight, I’m going to do it. I’m going to pick out a holiday movie, possibly even a bad holiday movie on Lifetime or Hallmark. And I’m going to sit on the sofa for an hour and a half and give it my full attention. About half way through the movie, I’m going to get up and make popcorn and I’m going to enjoy the heck out of it.
I hope you’ll join me. What would you watch? Here’s a clue about my likely choice.
