February already! January just flew by for me and it looks like February is going to speed by equally quickly. That could be because I started the month by falling down my stairs while holding a wine glass so I’ve been dealing with the aftermath of the massive cuts on my hand. (And no, I wasn’t drinking. I was cleaning. I’ll be avoiding that in the future!)
I haven’t done a Five Things I Love post in a while so this is a round-up of things that have given me pleasure over the last few weeks. Since we’ve all been in quarantine, I’ve been putting an effort into stopping to really appreciate the little things that give me pleasure. I’ve been amazed at how much just taking some time to notice and enjoy the little things boosts my happiness.
For example, the Kevin Murphy shampoo and conditioner set costs way more than I usually pay for shampoo. My hair stylist used it on me the last time I had my hair cut and I spent the next couple of days enjoying how amazing it made my hair smell. I finally decided to splurge and get some at home and it’s turned every shower into feeling like a just had a massage at a spa. Game changer! Now I start every morning with a huge smile.
This stuff makes my hair look fuller and boosts my happiness with it's great smell, so how could I not love it? It is expensive, but I only need to use about the size of a nickel when I shampoo my hair so I expect it will last for quite a while.
I've been lucky enough to receive a few items as gifts lately and I was thrilled when the folks at Cozy Earth reached out to ask if I would like to try one of their products. Try something from one of Oprah's favorite companies? Yes, please!
I opted for this Bambook Pajama set because, like so many women my age, I'm constantly waking up in the middle of the night feeling like I'm about to die from heat.
These bamboo pajamas are naturally cooling and silky soft and are actually cute and flattering! I love products that fit a need and make me feel pretty at the same time so these pjs are in my regular rotation.
I was also gifted a pair of these reading glasses and I'm so grateful because I've been on a personal hunt to find attractive reading glasses that don't cost an arm and a leg. I have nothing against the wild styles that reading glasses manufacturers seem to believe women my age prefer, but, personally, I vibe a little bit better with glasses that are more simple and dignified.
Peepers offers reading glasses and sunglasses in a variety of styles (including some wild colors if that's your thing). I love the way I look in these glasses and I'm just paid my own money for a second pair.
The best part, though? Once you see how well you can see with professional quality-made reading glasses, you'll never go back to the drugstore brand. The blue light blocking really does help with eye strain, too.
Most Peepers styles run around $25.00 which is a completely reasonable price for what you get. They also have frequent sales where the prices are even better so be sure to sign up for their mailing list so you hear about them.
So, full disclosure, I haven't actually used this sock loom yet. However, it's still one of my favorite things because my daughter, my sister and I have formed a virtual knitting club and our first project is making socks on this loom.
We're having a first meeting this weekend over FaceTime and I'm really excited for this unique bonding opportunity. I'm especially thrilled because this was my daughter's suggestion.
I've never knitted anything before so wish me luck! I'm sure we'll still have fun no matter how the socks turn out.
This was an impulse Ulta purchase and I can't believe the difference this little $8.00 product has made for my eyebrows. I'm in the middle of updating a post about my brow routine so I can share how to use this with everyone I know!
If you've seen soap brows anywhere on your Internet feeds, you're familiar with the bushy brow look that's so popular now. I can achieve the same effect on my almost non-existent brows with this product and now it takes less than one minute to do my brows perfectly. Plus they stay that way all day! I'm actually a little bit in love.
What are some of your favorite things you’ve found lately? Share in the comments!
