I recently shared a quick and easy eye makeup look that I found on TikTok. As I mentioned in the post, I became addicted to TikTok during 2020 and I love all the information I can learn on there – especially the makeup hacks.

I have a confession: I’m addicted to TikTok. And I’m not alone! It seems like everyone discovered the video app in 2020. I understand why. You can find videos covering…
I’ve changed how I’m doing my makeup because of the tips I’ve learned on TikTok. So I made a video to show you guys how I’m doing my makeup most days now and what products and techniques from TikTok will work for women over 40.
How to Get This Look
Here’s a quick overview of how I’m currently doing my makeup.
Primer & Foundation
Apply primer to your face with your hands or a foundation brush after moisturizer and sunscreen.
Apply a drop or two of foundation to the back of your hand to warm it up and then dot on your face for even coverage.
Using a dense foundation brush, pat the foundation into your skin by bouncing the foundation brush on your skin until foundation is smoothly absorbed. Then, buff your skin with circular motions using the foundation brush until skin looks smooth and flawless.
Eyebrows
Fill in your brows using your favorite method (here’s how I fill in my eyebrows).
Brush the hairs of your eyebrows up and then set in place using the spoolie from NYX Brow Glue.
Eyeshadow
Apply eyeshadow primer. (I used e.l.f. 16HR Camo Concealer in Light Sand and patted it in with a small powder brush.)
Apply a bright eyeshadow color all over your eyelids. (I used the color Champagne Silk from the LUXAZA Eyeshadow Stick Set in Brown.)
Use a darker eyeshadow to lightly line under the eyes. (I used the color Brown Soil – what a name! – from the LUXAZA Eyeshadow Stick Set in Brown.)
Using the same dark color, draw a vertical line from your outer lash to just past the crease of your eye toward the tail of your brow. Then lightly fill in this line in a triangle shape.
Use a small blending brush to lightly blend out the eyeshadow while keeping it within the outer third of your eye.
Using a thin eyeliner pen, draw a line close to the lash line starting from the middle of your eye. to your last lash keeping the line straight, rather than following the lash line. Then fill in the eyeliner to make a subtle wing. (I used e.l.f. Cosmetics Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in coffee)
Contour & Blush
TikTok taught me to not be scared of contour. It’s actually really easy to apply and makes a big difference in how finished your makeup looks.
Start by Applying Cream Contour in the following areas of your face:
- The underside of your cheekbone
- Just on the edge of your jaw
- Across your forehead
- Down the sides of your nose
- Under your bottom lip
Then add your cream blush just above your contour.
Blend by bouncing a foundation brush on the contour and blush until it’s smooth and blended.
Use a small powder brush to blend the contour on the side of your nose and under your mouth.
Highlight
Dot either a cream highlighter or concealer one or two shades lighter than your in the following areas:
- Inside corner of the eye
- Outside the corner of the eye going up toward the tail of your brow
- Down the nose
- In the marionette lines
- Above your cupid’s bow
Blend by again bouncing a foundation brush on your highlight or blend with your finger.
Lips
Line your lips with your mouth closed, avoiding any wrinkles on the corners of your mouth. (Check out my lip tutorial for a more in-depth description of this.)
Finish by filling in the liner with lipstick and a light gloss.
